Art to Oxygen
“Art to Oxygen” was a collaborative initiative by the WICCI Arts Leadership Council and Kankali Trust for Arts & Cultural Economic Development (KT‑ACED) that responded to the urgent needs of the COVID‑19 pandemic in India. During the second wave, artists across the country donated their paintings to an online art exhibition, and the proceeds from sales were used to procure oxygen concentrators for COVID‑care organisations.
In the spirit of collective humanity, part of the proceeds was also returned to participating artists who were facing economic hardship due to the crisis. To kickstart the campaign, Beena Unnikrishnan, National President of the WICCI Arts Leadership Council and Founder of KT‑ACED, donated the proceeds from her own artwork to fund the first batch of oxygen concentrators. Through this effort, individuals, corporates, and art lovers came together to support both frontline healthcare needs and the creative community during a critical time.

Artists, have always been an integral part of all testing times and have strived to contribute positively. The pandemic that unleashed its fury since the beginning of last year has come back with its second wave with an even stronger resolve in its effects, especially on India. It is no doubt, a time for all of us to stand together and fight this common, invisible and deadly enemy.
Art to Oxygen is an initiative by WICCI Arts Leadership Council and Kankali Trust for Arts & Cultural Economic Development (KT-ACED), which aims at raising funds to procure Oxygen Concentrators from the sale proceeds of paintings donated by various artists from across the country. These Oxygen Concentrators will be donated to Covid care organizations. Honouring the true spirit of humanity, a part of the proceeds will be given back to them as many of them are under dire economic crunch themselves given the current situation.
To kick start the initiative, Beena Unnikrishnan, National President WICCI Arts Leadership Council and Founder of (KT-ACED), has donated the proceeds from the sales of her paintings to procure the first batch of Oxygen Concentrators.
